People ask me all the time what’s in my camera bag???
My main camera is the Canon R5. It’s the new mirrorless and yes, I am madly in love with her! I have a Mark IV as my backup camera and is trusty and gorgeous as well.
My go to lens for about everything is the 24-70 2.8. It is my one and only zoom lens but has such a good rating and so versatile it’s just the one lens I never go anywhere without.
I also have a 100 mm Macro so I can capture the tiny details of your baby like nose, toes, and eyelashes.
For newborn sessions I use a Sigma Art 35mm 1.4 which gives me the dreamy creamy soft look required for my baby sessions.
Cake Smash and baby sessions the 85mm is my dream lens since I have the room in the studio to pull it off and makes the little lights in my backgrounds twinkle and shine while making your baby tact sharp in images.
My largest lens is the 200mm. I call her Shelly and weighs about 10 lbs. I use this one outside ALL THE TIME! It gives me the compression I desire to make even the ugliest backgrounds look like a dreamy painting. Since I live in West Texas and scenery here sometimes is less than ordeal, I take advantage of Shelly’s magic.
I tell my photographer friends all the time, it’s not the camera that makes the magic, it’s the photographer. But don’t be scared to invest in yourself if you want to make it to the next level. When you get extra money and time, invest in upgrading your gear and always continue your education. It only makes you better, faster, and art stronger. Photography is such a wonderful art because you can never stop learning, and they are always coming out with new gear and technology to help us be better.
