After a lot of prayer, thought, and honest reflection, I want to share an important update about my business and what’s ahead for Kimberly Cowan Photography here in Midland, Texas.
Downsizing My Studio After 9 Beautiful Years
This summer, I will be downsizing my business and moving out of the studio space I have called my second home for the past 9 years.
This decision has not come lightly. My studio has been more than just a workspace—it has been a place where countless memories were created. From newborn sessions to maternity portraits and milestone moments, it has held so much laughter, emotion, and connection for so many Midland families.
It has truly been an honor to create in this space, and I will deeply miss it.
A New Location—Just Across the Street
The good news is… I’m not going far.
I will be relocating just across the street to The Courtyard, allowing me to continue serving my clients in Midland, TX with the same care, creativity, and attention to detail—just in a more sustainable way.
Navigating Changes in the Photography Industry
Like many small businesses, I’ve had to take a hard look at the realities of today’s economy.
Rising costs, changing consumer spending habits, rapid digital advancements, and an increase in low-cost competition have significantly shifted the photography industry.
In order to continue doing what I love—and to continue providing high-quality newborn, maternity, and portrait photography—I need to pivot and make wise business decisions that reduce overhead and support long-term sustainability.
I Am Not Quitting—Far From It
Let me be very clear:
I AM NOT QUITTING.
I am still here, still creating, and still incredibly proud to be a multi-award-winning Master Photographer.
I have spent years investing in my craft, education, and client experience. I’ve built meaningful relationships with families across Midland and the Permian Basin, and that is something I will never walk away from.
Embracing a New Chapter in My Business
This is not the end—it’s a new season.
A smarter season.
A season of growth, adaptation, and intention.
I will continue to offer custom newborn photography, maternity sessions, and timeless portrait experiences in a way that aligns with the future of my business and the needs of my clients.
What to Expect Moving Forward
The transition to my new space will take place mid-June, no later than July 1st.
I will continue to keep everyone updated as things progress, and I’m truly excited for what’s ahead.
